The gray dawn is coming as I settle deep,
Into my coat for warmth and try to sleep.
The snow is falling very heavy now, It is
causing the trees to bow. And across the
land a silence fell, The minutes passed by
and I could tell, No sleep would I find inside

Little is know in the outside world of the
terrible events of that week. It is hard even
now to dredge up the memories and put them
forth on paper for all to see and read. I hope
that in doing so though, I will again be able to
get a good nights sleep without the memory
of Miss Caroline and the events of that week,
coming forth and tugging me into a deep
dark.......................................................

Littlefoot had been in the deep brush and weeds
along the river when the pheasant flew. He had
not seen what way it went or that it had gone
down. I would have to send him on a blind
retrieve. It was so far across the river that friends
suggested that I not send him, thinking that he
would never see the bird nor swim that far. I
pointed though and sent him swimming with my
signal of "Dead Bird"..................................................
