Well at last one leg of the Tournament was going to be possible! The weather was not the best but it was going to work! I had part
of my crew meet me at the Columbia River on Friday morning to catch a little bait in hopes of keeping it alive for the next day! We
got a bunch and loaded up the boat on the trailer and headed south to Garibaldi! We were able to get a slip and got Just Keep
Fishing nestled in her temporary home. It was fun to walk the docks and talk to other participants. That evening we attended the
captains meeting and were given the particulars for the next day! Our team started things out right and won a very nice G Loomis
rod at the raffle that night.
Next morning found us along with 40+ other boats, lined up between two 47' coast gaurd boats! The shotgun start was really
something to see. The flares went up from each Coast Gaurd boat and we were off. There were numerous boat going airborn in
the rush to be the first to the tuna grounds. Even Just Keep Fishing left the bounds of her watery home and was clear out of the
water. Over rev warnings and oil light warning came on as the prop spun freely in the morning air. We were headed north as most
of the boats headed south. Soon we could not see another boat. We ended the day with 8 fish in the boat. Not a money making
day but still a fun one. We did beat one of the two boats I had wanted to and paid off the other I did not. What a great event and I
look forward to next year!
